Transcription: Metacognition is an executive control process. It is the umbrella of thought that is used to decide how to approach a problem. In the simplest terms, it is thinking about thinking. Strategy game play causes your child to exercise metacognition. Throughout a game, constantly changing situations require information to be reassessed. What is pertinent? What is extraneous? is missing. Awareness and judgment must be used as your child decides which move to make and which strategy to apply.
